OnePlus 3 gets the leaked press render treatment

Following the leak showing us the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 active in a new (and strange) hue, it's now time for the OnePlus 3 to get the leaked press render treatment. This is once again happening courtesy of @evleaks, who has obtained the image you can see below, showing the OnePlus 3 in all its glory.
The metal unibody construction of the device is clearly portrayed in these renders, marking the Chinese company's first such design. Gone is the signature "sandstone" back cover, and the glass solution from the OnePlus X is nowhere to be found either. Instead, you'll be touching pure, naked metal each time you pick the OnePlus 3 up.

Today's renders line up with what we've seen from a couple of live image leaks from earlier this month (although the color version shown is different). So at this point there's no reason to doubt that this is in fact what the next OnePlus flagship will look like.
The phone should feature an AMOLED screen, as well as a 3,000 mAh battery, according to the source of the leak. Past rumors had the OnePlus 3 coming with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4 or 6GB of RAM, a 16 MP rear camera, an 8 MP selfie shooter, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It will have a USB Type-C port and a fingerprint scanner as you'd expect.

Xiaomi Mi Max Review

OnePlus 3 leaks, shows off its USB Type-C port

We're due for another OnePlus flagship and the OnePlus 3 dutifully leaks from multiple sources. This one shows the front - which looks very much like the current model.
We also get a peek at the bottom, where the speaker grill and the USB Type-C port live. The sandstone finish seems to be gone (we won't weep for it). On the front, the Home key houses a fingerprint sensor as before.

The OnePlus 3 is expected to have a 5.5" 1080p screen, run on a Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4GB or 6GB RAM and a price tag of over $300.

Xiaomi Mi Max scores over 8 million registrations for its first sale

The Xiaomi Mi Max - which was unveiled earlier this week in China, and is all set to go on its first flash sale next week on May 17 - has got over 8 million people interested in buying it at launch.
This was revealed by the Chinese company in a post on Weibo (China's Twitter). To put the number in context, the company's Mi 5 smartphone received 14 million registrations for its first flash sale, although keep in mind that the handset falls in the flagship category, unlike the Mi Max.
Note that only the 32GB SD650 model will go on sale on May 17. And in case you're wondering about the number of units that will be up for grabs that day, the figure reportedly stands at 100,000. So, as you can see, it's not going to be an easy task for buyers.

Xiaomi Mi Max with 6.44 inches screen

Xiaomi Mi Max is what budget-minded fans of huge screens have been waiting for. And we do mean huge - 6.44" from corner to corner. That screen is housed in a metal unibody that measures 7.5mm thick. The size, plus the massive 4,850mAh battery, push the weight to a hefty 203g.
There are three versions in total. The top version has a Snapdragon 652 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage. There's a 3GB/64GB option as well. The most affordable model uses the Snapdragon 650 instead and has 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage.

The difference in chipset is two extra Cortex-A72 cores for the CPU (for a total of 4x A72 + 4x A53). Both use the new generation Adreno 510 GPU, which should be more than powerful enough to drive the 1080p screen. All three versions have a hybrid dual-SIM slot so that you can add more storage.
The Xiaomi Mi Max runs the new MIUI 8 (based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow). The phone has a fingerprint sensor on the back for extra security.

Huawei Honor V8 : Dual 12MP Cameras, 5.7 inches display, Kirin 950 CPU

Huawei just pulled the wraps off the Honor V8 flagship at a launch event in China. The smartphone brings some Huawei goodness to the Honor sub brand, namely the top-end Kirin 950 chipset and the dual-camera setup on the back (though no Leica branding here).

The Honor V8 sports a 5.7-inch display and you get to choose between FullHD and QHD resolution - Huawei finally caved in, after long refusing to go beyond 1080p. Both variants use IPS panels and have a 2.5D glass on top.
The Kirin 950 chip we already mentioned comes with an octa-core CPU (4xCortex-A72 + 4xCortex-A53 clusters). RAM is set at 4GB, and the QHD display is coupled with 64GB of storage, while the FullHD flavor gets half that.

The dual cameras on the back of the Honor V8 look an awful lot like the equipment of the Huawei P9 - 12MP each, 6-element lenses with f/2.2 aperture, dual-LED flash and laser autofocus. The big absentee is the Leica badge. On the front you're getting an 8MP f/2.4 cam, the P9 says "hi" once again.

Connectivity is well covered, with all models supporting LTE, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS. The base model does lack support for NFC though. The metal-clad smartphone measures 157x77.6x7.75mm and weighs 170g. Battery capacity is listed at 3,500mAh, and charging takes place via a USB Type-C interface.
