Meizu PRO 6 unveiled: with 5.2" AMOLED screen with 3D Press

The Meizu PRO 5 launched in September and had monster specs now half a year later the Meizu PRO 6 launches and it's... smaller? Yep, Number 6 comes with a 5.2" screen.

As expected it's a Super AMOLED with 1080p resolution, but the size took us by surprise as the PRO 6 was 5.7" and even the MX5 was 5.5". The "killer feature" of the new screen is 3D Press, Meizu's alternative to 3D Touch. In fact, it seems that Apple was the motivation behind going smaller - the iPhone SE did it. Curved Gorilla Glass 3 protects the screen.

   
Meizu PRO 6

The Meizu PRO 6 is powered by MediaTek Helio X25 chipset - the 10-core processor and Mali-T880 GPU have been overclocked from the X20. You get 4GB of RAM too (so much for the rumored 6GB).

The company positioned the camera as the big draw. It has an interesting 10-LED dual-tone flash arranged in a circle (but this is not a ring flash, mind you). The sensor has 21.1MP resolution and measures 1/2.4". The camera also boasts Laser and phase-detection AF.

Flash aside, the camera is essentially a match for what the PRO 5 packed. And the battery seems quite small at 2,560mAh, but at least it charges fast with the 24W mCharge 3.0.

Meizu Pro 6 will be announced on April 13 in Beijing

Following the recent appearance of the Meizu Pro 6, the company officially announced the phone will be revealed on April 13. The invite reveals the launch will be held in Beijing.

We'll know officially what the Pro 6 is all about. Going by rumors we are expecting a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED touchscreen, a 21 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front-facing snapper, Samsung's Exynos 8890 chipset, 4 or 6GB of RAM, and a 3,500 mAh battery.

Just the other day Meizu announced the m3 note.

It starts with the heart of a Wi-Fi network, the router. The Mi Router 3 features four antennas with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac support for three times the performance of the previous generations. Unlike the Mi Router 2, this one doesn't seem to come with terabytes of storage, but Xiaomi offers music and video streaming content through an exclusive app.

Xiaomi has unveiled a Pro variant of the Redmi 3 smartphone. The main difference between the new device and the standard Redmi 3 phone is that the former features a fingerprint sensor and has 3GB RAM 32GB stotage boost.

Other specs remain same, meaning the Redmi 3 Pro also sports a 5-inch HD display, and is powered by a Snapdragon 616 chipset. Camera department is handled by the same 13MP main and 5MP front shooters, while battery also remains unchanged at 4,100mAh.

The handset also offers support for dual-SIM functionality and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, and microUSB 2.0, while color options include silver, grey and gold.

Carrying an RMB 899 ($140) price tag, the Redmi 3 Pro will go on sale starting April 6 at Vopmart.com , the day when Xiaomi's Mi Fan Festival kicks off.

Meizu Pro 6 leaks in a new pair of photos

The Meizu Pro 6 has really been getting a lot of publicity lately. The whole iPhone 7 resemblance was more or less an attention-grabber, but even beyond that the handset has had its fair share of leaks.

The latest batch of leaked photos offers a glimpse at both the front and the back of the phone and once again reaffirms the significant design similarities between the Pro 6 and its predecessor - the Pro 5. The shots in question seem to come from a shoot we already caught a glimpse of a few days back, making it quite a bit more believable.

Overall, the images don't really offer much in the way of new information, but we already have a pretty good idea what to expect. The Meizu Pro 6 is shaping up as a true powerhouse packing 6GB of RAM and a 3D touch display. And, as per a recently leaked manufacturer road map, the Pro 6 should be rocking a 5.7-inch QHD panel, fast UFS3.0 storage, as well as NFC 3.0 and a big 3,500 mAh battery.

The document in question also points to a Samsung Exynos 8890 chip and price range for the flagship, starting at CNY 2799 ($430) for a 32GB one, going through CNY 3099 ($480) for 64GB and all the way up to CNY 3499 ($540) for the top-tier 128GB variant.
